I've never heard of lordosis before, but I do know that people can have spinal problems either way, either too bendy or too straight. Lordosis sounds like it's a bit more bendy than just bad posture though.

Firstly I think you should get diagnosed by a professional because there is no use trying to sort out a problem you "think" you have, you need to know you definitely have it.

Then, they will probably send you to a physiotherapist, or if it is a bit more complex then perhaps operate.

Meanwhile, try yoga or pilates, if you don't want to go to a class, find a website or a book and try doing some of the positions for your back every day. Yoga is a long-term solution though so don't expect results pronto.

Go see your gp/chiropractor, simple as that.

I've arranged to see a sports pysio who is very good; hopefully he should be able to help.

I wasn't looking for a cure; just if anyone knows about it, that would be great. thanks alot.

I have heard of lordosis it as you said is an abnormal curvature of the spine. I would advice that if it is bothering you, you go and speak to your GP as they may be able to advice you of the best course of action.

Quite often people have scoliosis and lordosis together. The lordosis is the overexaggerated curve of the back. If you're a girl it doesn't look that weird and it isn't much of an anomaly for girls as a slightly pronounced curve is considered as quite attractive on a girl. If you're a guy it's not good for physical and obvious aesthetical reasons.

Scoliosis is an unnatural lateral curve i.e. a spine which isn't straight when seen from the back but is curved towards the left or the right in the form of an S.

There's no scientific reason behind it, although it does often coincide with anxiety problems (ever noticed how nervous people have bad posture for example?)

Quite often people whose problem is detected before puberty or at the early stages, totally recover before adulthood. If you're towards the end of your teens, then a lot of physio will be important to keep a healthy back.

I'd highly recommend doing yoga in addition to the physio and plenty of swimming too!

Hey guys and gals,

I think i have lordosis. this is when the spine is over-curved. My arse sticks out backwards, and my tummy sticks out forwards. Anyone know about this, and treatment? thanks alot,

slightly anxious teenage boy.

Hey listen, I used to have it, and there is nothing to be ashamed of or anxious about. I found that sucking my stomach inwards and pulling myself upwards worked really well. The key is to stand up, not just straight, but pulling yourself upwards. Its hard at first, but over time your posture changes and improves.

I found that in terms of excersise swimming and stomach crunches really helped.

Don't worry about it.

Is lordosis a problem apart from the obvious of looking like you have a huge arse?

Like, should i be wary of weight training/sport, as my life consists of sport related activities.
lordosis in the lumbar region is perfectly normal.

Bearing in mind that there is a degree of natural lordosis in the spine (cervical and lumbar regions)...

If you are really worried, see your GP...
Gaylordosis. That arse is gonna attract a lot of male attention.

One of the problems I did find with Lordosis was projecting my full height. I am quite a short fellow, and the strong curve of my ba k must have taken off 1-2 inches. In addition, it make your tummy stick out, so you wind up looking a little porky, even if you are quite skinny.

If you find yourself in pain, or having physical trouble because of your condition, however, I strongly advise seeing a physician,
