Hey guys,

I have got offers from both SOAS and the university of Southampton and my conditions are both the same. Right now I don't know which one is is better for Economics in terms of their reputation and relation with the financial sector (the city) and their academics reputation, but also the student experience at each uni. Any help is welcome. Thanks in advance

Southampton is ranked higher and is part of the Russell Group.

But for Economics specifically, SOAS is higher.

Probably SOAS. It has a better reputation and it's ranked 26th in the world for its specialist area (Times World Rankings).

Also it's in the centre of London where all the big firms are at.

Look into both and choose wisely. Going to either isn't going to give you a massive boost in employability since they are both respected.

Both are very good universities and there is little difference between them.

I personally think S'oton is better for student experience, but whether the course is up for you idk.
(Bit bias since im firming S'oton )

Looking at the student reviews on WhatUni, SOAS has a higher overall score, and better reviews for Economics. I think part of it falls down to what you plan on doing after university too. SOAS would be better if you want a job at a large company.

I am planning to work in one of the big financial firms/banks in the city after graduation. So you would suggest a degree from SOAS is much more respected?? And why??

Well isn't the University of London quite prestigious itself? And on top of that, the location would be suitable for looking for internships while doing your studies. At Southampton you would have to travel back and forth to London.
