I'm applying to study english lit with creative writing for 2015 entry. I just wanted to know what an english lit degree is like, because these universities are very vague on their websites.
thank you! :-)

Completely depends on where you apply - most English degrees are either linear or modular. Linear means you'll start in first year with medieval/early English writing, progressing through Renaissance, Victorian, Modernist etc etc until you'll come up to the present day by the end of 3rd year. At my uni it's modular, which means after first year, you can choose to study whichever periods of literature you like the most - say you love 20th century literature, you could just do modules based on that, rather than being forced to do a bit of everything.
Go on the uni websites, they should have PDF guides detailing their syllabus/module options.
