I chose to do my extended essay in Economics but have trouble coming up with a good title. Any suggestions?

Hi there,

I'd like to do Macroeconomics too, and my initial question was something about comparing supermarkets in the Netherlands (which are unusually small) and ones in France (which are huge) and whether the demand actually affects the supply. Buut, not sure if that's a good topic and would maybe like to do something else. The pub idea is interesting! However not many pubs around here (NL) hehe.

I want to do it about something very easy were you can write a lot, is that I have very short time to do this essay so I need it to be easy (but also long)..
Hahaha I know, everyone thinks of colombia as drugs.
I would like to do my essay on types of markets, or something like that, but I realy need help, peleas give me ideas on what to do it, something intresting.

Hi y'all!!
I also chose to do my extended essay in economics but I'm completely lost. I really don't know what subject I could do. I was thinking about doing "why the petrol price has not falling down for the consumer whereas the price of the baril has" but I really don't know... What you think about that? Have you got any idea for me? :confused:

i did mine in econ last year.....it was on Black economy...with economic geography and price theory....but the hardest bit was that i neva did economics and i din have any instructor or supervisor....so it was self supervised....but i guess it was interesting nd all..so got an A... :smile:

Hey! I did mine in Economics too so feel free to ask for help. First of all, what area would you like to do your essay on? I did mine on Macroeconomics because I found it really interesting. You could do it on Business and compare pubs in your area to find if they are monopolictic competition etc.. just anything that interests you, the title can wait... economics is great imo!

HI "hic_et_ubique", I am in my first year of IB and i have to decide my Extended Essay topic. I want to do it in Economics (HL) and more specifically in Macroeconomics. do you have any title that is suitable enough as to write 4000 words and that has information avilable??

Here are some ideas:
- The economic impact of legalizing marijuana (both micro and macro)
- The economics of Ipods (even though there are substitutes, they act like a monopoly)
- Impact of tobacco on the economy
- The future of petrol (now its a type of giffen good so it will be bought, but in the future, substitutes like hybrids and electric cars will make more comp.)

@anyone that reads other peoples EE DO NOT COPY A SINGLE DETAIL DO NOT EVEN READ THEM MORE THAN ONCE SO DETAILS GET RANDOMLY LODGED IN YOUR MIND if your suspected of cheating on ur EE it really doesn't bode well and the IB will have records of past EEs

that goes without saying andy, but they can inspire. u can choose similar topics but apply them to ur country or area. As for me, i finally found a topic today. "to wahat extent are ... price inelastic in my school?" Guys im afraid someone despeate might use the same exact topic, and ill be screwed, so dont get all hufy and puffy. If anyone would like the EEs i have, i will be glad to aid my fellow IBers from around the globe.

my economics teacher suggested us to base our topic in section 2 which is microeconomics..cause eco EE should consist of many raw data and it is sort of not possible to have easy access to raw data if u do it on sections 3,4,or 5

Ok guys i need help. Im doing my ee in economics and my topic idea is how guerilla terrorists and drug trade in Colombia affect its tourism in certain areas. Now i need help on what economics concepts and thoeries i can use in this and like graphs and what not. I am going to do a questionnaire since i am going to go to the country myself. I am going to get info from the ministry of tourism. i just need to know what concepts and thoeries i can use that iv learned in ibh economics. thanks for any help

I need help in choosing my extender essay topic and title. I am definitely doing it in econ but if someone could give me ideas I would really appreciate it. thanks. I wouldn't mind doing it in micro or macroeconomics. Any ideas would really help.

I thought on doing it on the control of the dollar with "bands" in my country ( I live in Costa Rica) But they say that what I choose should be able to be measured

i did my EE in economics as well

i did it on externalities

i find micro easier than macro in that i can get more raw data and then analyse it in my essay
