Bonjela is useless stuff. Maybe try some anbesol adult gel, will sting like crazy but has an anaesthetic in so will thn numb the area. There is also a mouthwash, aloclair, designed for mouth ulcers. Not sure how good it is though.
I've heard that things that can cause ulcers include sharp foods, stress, lack of sleep, certain foods (depends from person to person). I personally get them when I've been biting the inside of my lip without realising!

I have lots at the moment too. I sympathise, they are so painful. Apparently they can occur when your stressed.

bonjela tastes nice

I just nuke my mouth with TCP before going to bed. You can't feel **** the rest of the night, and then they usually don't hurt in the morning as long as you don't accidentally bite them or rub them with your tongue too much.

I've got loooooooads around the front of my mouth at the moment, underneath the top lip and bottom lip, and they KILL! i'm using bonjela but it just seems to make them sting and then they hurt again, its not actually getting rid of them.

They are spreading as well, i seem to get more and more, why do you get them? Any particular reason?

Change your toothbrush and eat lots more fruit and veg methinks

brush your teeth 5 times a day and buy anti-acid pills to grind up and apply. sounds you have braces... you can buy wax to cover the metal fittings but that can get annoying at meal times.

You can get this amazing stuff form the chemists that will sort if right out. Can't remember what it was called but saved me from my braces (had a very bad habit of swallowing the wax...it would just come off and the next I knew of it my mouth was torn to shreads!) but go in and ask for the strnogest one they sell. comes in a tube about 2 inches long, blue box me thinks.

You get ulcers from being 'run down' this could mean lots of things such as a poor diet, stress, lack of sleep

Reply 15

Usually mouth ulcers occur due to stress or being totally run down.

As you've tried bonjela, maybe swishing you mouth with salted water will help

Please disregard this statement.

Why do Mouth Ulcers Occur?

The most common reason that people think they get mouth ulcers is being stressed or run down. As with many ailments, a mouth ulcer is far more likely to pop up when you are overdoing it and your immune system is low. Other reasons for mouth ulcers are cuts in the mouth caused by nicking the gum or cheek with your toothbrush or food. Ill-fitting or new braces and dentures can sometimes cause sores that are painful when they are rubbed against or certain foods are eaten.

So why do some people get them and others seem to lead just as stressful lives but don't? Well, despite mouth ulcers being quite a common ailment, the actual cause of mouth ulcers is unknown.
