Argument +crushed hand

As usual my parents were arguing, and my sister and I went to try and get them to stop as it was really upsetting and before it all got to out of control as it has done before.

To cut a long story short my hand got crushed when a door was slammed on it. Now my hand is really badly swollen, but my mum says it was my fault for getting involved and trying to stop the argument and that I will just have to suffer the consequences.

Is there anything I can do apart from put ice on it to make the swelling go down.

First, give her a slap with your other good hand.

Second, yup put some ice on it and give it some rest. If it doesn't seem to get better in a day or so see a doctor.

Just put a packet of peas on it (lol), and keep trying to move it. If you can't after a few days then go to the hospital.

I will keep putting something cold on it. Its pretty sore, my sister is saying that it looks broken. But my mum says there is not much to be done as she would be embarrassed to take me to hospital as there would be questions as to how it happened.
Is it just swollen or does it really hurt when you try to move it? Probably not broken but if it doesn't heal soon then take it to A&E to be looked at.
Yeah like amy says move it about so it heals properly

If your mum wont take you to hospital you can take yourself. Who actually shut the door?

Don't move it around. Keep some ice on it for the next 24hrs or so and see how it goes. Keep it rested though, especially if you think it's broken.

Keep some ice on it for the time being, if it's no better in 24 hours, tell your mum that you're walking up to A&E on your own and telling them exactly what happened unless she takes you.

Yer if it doesn’t get it better I will get it looked at.
It happened quite a few hours ago and now looks like this:

You'd surely be in agony if it was broken. Unless you abuse opiates.

Go to A&E! if you've broken any bones, the longer you leave them without getting it put into a cast, the more likely chance there is of them healing incorrectly, and causing you untold pain and problems in the future.

Actually, scrap that, go to your local minor injuries clinic, they'll look at it without you having to wait 5 hours in reception. Also, if they have an XRay there, they'll take an image of it then and there.

At least then you'll know, if it isn't broken, they'll advise you on what to do to aid in the healing.

In the mean time, tell your mum to poke her disgusting attitude and bloody well sort it out! christ, she could have seriously injured you here!

Ouch - looks bad. Rest it tonight, put some ice on it, if it's still painful tomorrow then go to the doctor.
I have broken bones in my hands before, and if i had to guess from your pic I would say you have. The pain isnt agony like it would be for an ankle. Anyway if i were oyu I would just walk up to an a&e department, if they ask and you dont wont to get into to much detail tell them that your hand got trapped in a door.
