There is absolutely no way to tell what these pills are by their colour or markings. The only real way to know what is in them is to get them tested by someone. If it is speed then he will have an increased heart rate, probably be sweaty, jittery, unable to sit still, full of energy, chatty, have enlarged pupils and be unable to sleep. The following day he may be a bit depressed, sulky or moody.

Needless to say him taking pills without knowing the content is incredibly stupid. You need to talk to him about this because there really could be anything in these pills and they could do long term damage. Definitely don't allow him to drive or operate machinery if he's high because he's likely to have an accident. Don't be confrontational when you speak to him, just ask him why he is taking the pills, what he hopes to achieve and if there might be a better way to do this. If the objective is to lose weight then balanced diet and increased exercise are probably all he needs.

if she does take them she will be charged with possesion of an illegal substance, and what you think your local gps just going to open his suitcase and analyse them? lab results would take around 10 days.

people die because they drink alcohol which dehyderates them further and something or other happens to the liquid surrounding the brain. and how the hell do you drown drinking?

If you consume too much water/ etc, you can have hyponutraema, where the electrolites can be messed up, and you can die if it's not corrected.

Also, would you rather end up dead or imprisoned? I doubt the op would be arrested, if her boyfriend's life is in danger (I'm not saying it is), I'm sure the doctor, etc would be more concerned with her boyfriend. Also, the tablets may not even be illegal.
