feet conditions

Hi there, I recently got very sore and itchy feet! i work for about 8 hours a day as a waitress in the hotel, obviously, i have to walk all the time. I wear leather shoes (and cotton socks). My feet doesn't smell, doesn't sweat too much. Do u think i got athlete's foot or jock itch? also one of my toes is feeling weird, it's like the mixture of numb and sensitive:eek: What's happening?! Argh!!!

Is there anyway i can reduce the pain? (especially when i just get home from work.) The pain is toturing me!!!:frown:

Is the itch under and in between the toes? If it is, my guess would be athletes foot or some other fungal infection. Check some websites for symptoms and if it sounds like a fungal infection go to Boots or some other pharmacy and get Canesten foot cream.

it's not between the toes, it's the base(the flat area).

Is the skin coming off, or is it just itchy? If it's just itchy it maybe just the heat, or new socks, shoes, fabric conditioner?

Jock itch is specifically ring worm (tinea) around the genital area

Sounds like a fungal infection - buy some OTC antifungal cream and if it doesn't improve, see your GP.

Also could be poorly fitting shoes - especially if you're on your feet for long periods of time...

I am a Diabetic so foot care is a big part of my routine due to poor circulation. I was also born with curled toes and over time my big toes on either foot have moved inwards. I use a moisturiser (sp?) and have foot baths even though I am told these are bad for Diabetics.

As for the Athlete's foot, I'd get it checked out by a doctor

i just got a cream called Canesten, from the paking, it says : effective treatment for athlete's foot also used to treat jock itch. I think it's also an antifungal cream as it treats AF.

Yep, canesten is an anti-fungal...others to look for include daktarin, lamisil, scholl and then own brands. Most are available off the shelves, you wont have to go up to the counter in a shop like boots if youd rather not.
Might be worth thinking about investing in some daktarin spray powder if you suffer from it due to working, and spray it on before starting work.

Sounds like chilblains to me - I got them after dancing all night in boots that hindered circulation to my toes. They itch, made my toes swell and feel very hot to the touch. Mine went away after a while, but there might be a treatment for them.

However, rather than take advice on a forum and fork out for expensive creams that may or may not help, go to your doctor and get professional advice.
