Awful toothache - but I am abroad - what can I do?

Hello
I appreciate a few, if any, are dentists but if anyone has similar experience I'd be grateful. I have had very painful toothache for about 36 hours now, at the back right of my mouth. I believe it is my wisdom teeth coming through. I can see a little bit of tooth sticking up at the back behind my last tooth. I'm sure it's common but I can't eat, it's very sore. I am on my year abroad in China, and I don't trust Chinese dentists at all!
What can I do? Any have any advice?
Thanks!

Ask your hotel for a dentist that isn't Chinese. (Discrimination Tut tut)

I know its not the best thing to suggest but where I come from, people use whisky to deal with the pain of tooth ache while they wait to get their tooth checked by the dentist. I've tried it, it works but should only be used for a few days at most while you wait on your appointment. Surely there must be a pharmacy near you that you could get some painkillers from as well though?
