Thread for all things OCR B

It may be the worst physics course in the known universe but we've still got to get As in the exams. So any tips, revision resources, complaints about the coursework, pleas for mercy etc etc share them here.

This site has all the past papers from 2001 onwards. A pretty good starting point. If you don't get something just post here and somebody will answer your question

I've done most of the past papers, however I have kept the recent ones for nearer to exams. Aside from practice questions, do you know any revision resources? I have the CGP guide and the textbook but one isn't in enough detail and the other has too much unnecessary crap making it hard to read

Ahh the infamous ocr text book. Advancing Physics for You is good but expensive. How are you doing in the past papers?

I'm doing this exam board too. The poor excuse of a text book isn't much help, though the Wikibooks are pretty good. What do you all think of the Advanced notice article?

Dull as ditchwater but reasonably easy to spot where questions might come from.
Hard, brittle and easily cleaved being a case in point.

Article 1 and article 3 are reasonable. We're going through the practical for article 3 after the holidays, I'm thinking a lot of uncertainty questions are going to come up.

How are you revising for G491 and G492?

Can you post some of your ideas of what areas the questions will be on? My teacher hasn't even gone through the pre-release yet.

These are the unedited notes I copied down in lesson. Make of them what you will.
Defect sites grain boundaries
Linear response for tld
Non linear for photo film (easier to calibrate tld, sensitivity of device)
Why does beta have a spectrum of energy
How does radiation interact with matter
Photo multiplier tube
Definition if eV
Accelerating particles
How would a crystal behave differently at different temperatures.

Getting to a critical point now. Which uni if you don't mind me asking?

Do any of you use quizlet? We could set up a group.

Yeah some would say a critical point... Maybe. I've firmed the University of Birmingham, and the University of Sheffield is my insurance.

No I don't, but a quick look looks as though it could be useful
