Try gargling with salt water

Have you tried strepsils?
Plenty to drink, paracetamol, a scarf and plenty of sleep.
Yep, get it checked out, just in case it's tonsilitis or something.
Have you got anything else?

Gargling with salt water is for when you sick and your tonsils are filled with pus Juno! :p:

Strepsils are for coughs, paracetamol wont help.

Instead of asking everyone, use this time to get it checked.

Please :p:

Vicks do a Chloraseptic spray for sore throats which is really good- will totally numb your throat.
Reply 6
DON'T use that.
It'll probably worsen it.
Reply 7
No, gargling with salt water is great for sore throats in any form.

Sorry AR, but she's should see a doc.

And btw, you can thank me later :p:

Yeh, I know that.

But I won't take any chances if I were Aspect.
Strepsils work well for me with sore throats and lots of cold water, but if your symptoms continue see a docter

This is not what everyone thinks before people get excited  lol

Basically my throat is killing me, and it particularly hurts when I swallow, you know that feeling? I'm sure you've all had it..

What do I do?? I fear this is symbolising the start of me coming down with something, and it's a rather bad time for me to be ill... so can anyone recommend anything?

Thanks
In my infinite wisdom of having had multiple bouts of it every winter since I was 16, it sounds like you've got tonsilitus. If you have to summon all your courage to swallow because it feels like you're swallowing crushed up glass and your glands are up, get to a doc. Not a

Tyrozets (spelling?) might work to, they numb your throat so could help take the edge off the pain  if it's not better in a couple of days though, see your GP, you might need antibiotics.
If you've got a sore throat and you think youre coming down with something what you do is: put 4 drops of tea-tree essential oil in a bit of water (like 1/4 of a half-pint glass) and gargle with it first thing in the morning and before you go to bed. I absolutely swear by that, about 2 out of 3 times you just dont get ill like you think youre going to.

If youre already ill and the sore throat is just a symptom of watever you already have - lockets and those chunky antiseptic throat sweets from boots. Try swallowing a spoonful of honey slowly for some quick relief aswell.

Last winter i had about 5 colds in a row. It was really getting me down. If you take vitamin tablets your immune system recovers quicker after a cold i found. But do the tea-tree thing, i swear it works so well
Does your breathing feel constricted? Does the pain seem to extend all the way down your oesophegus? If it does it could be indegestion, where the stomach acid has moved up the pipe.

I didnt say the OP shouldnt see a doctor- but chances are unless they go to A&E, they ain't going to be able to see one tonight.

So the best thing until then is to find a remedy that will relieve the discomfort.
Could be tonsilitis or even mumps.

next time, spit instead of swallow
warm ribena is always my drink of choice when i have tonsilitis. If your throat is really bad in the morning you should definitely try a warm drink, putting honey in helps too. I think cos you don't swallow as much when you are asleep, your throat stiffens up, and the heat helps to loosen it again.

also eat only soft stuff. i always crave potato salad

hope you feel better soon
