There are two questions of the same style I couldn't do so I need some tips hence I cannot predict the products: Complete the equation forming conjugate acid base pairs for the equilibrium that would be set when 1) HNO3 + HNo2 = ???? 2) C6H5COOH + CH3CHOHCOOH = ????

In each case, you have to work out which of the acids is a stronger acid (and thus the weaker acid acts as the Bronsted-Lowry base). For example, in order to generate the NO2+ electrophile for the electrophilic substitution of benzene, you react:

H2SO4 + HNO3 ----> HSO4- + H2NO3+.

This shows that sulfuric acid is a stronger acid than nitric acid, as sulfuric acid donates a proton (Bronsted-Lowry acid), and nitric acid accepts that donated proton (Bronsted-Lowry base).

Therefore, H2SO4 is the acid and HSO4- is the conjugate base, and HNO3 is the base and H2NO3+ is the conjugate acid.
