friends yes.

"best-friends"... not so sure.... if they are spending all of their time together, doing everything together.. then i'd say it's pretty much a relationship without the sex... until one or both of them decide they want something more...

most of my mates are male and most of my bfs mates are female. if he fancied his best mate then im sure something would have happened years before he met me.

It can happen. I've had a friend that was a boy and now I have another friend that is a boy. We're just good friends but some ppl think that we are together just because we are of the opposite sex and spend alot of our free time at school together and talk to one another. But these ppl have nothing better to do and there is nothing more between us because I don't feel that way about anyone and he isn't interested in girls like that.

My best/closest friend in the world is male and we both have other partners. Only plutonic feelings involved so yes its possible

a few days ago my bf said he thought that if a guy and a girl spend loads of time together with no third parties involve, then they either fall in love or just end up not talking. i dont agree with that...but i think he was hinting at me to stop talking to his best friend (male) so much lol

it can work i guess providing both people feel absoluetly no physical attraction for each other.
The thing is sex isnt always about commitment and a relationship its about fun and being comfortable with one another, so with plutonic friends it can happen for no apparent reason.
For some it spoils friendships "oh my god he/she has seen me naked how can i face them" kind of outcome for others it strengthens them cos its someone they know they can go to for comfort (and lust) and that it just makes them closer.

As i said the only time it doesnt happen i guess is when no attraction is there in a sexual way. I've slept with most my female friends so i say for the most no

I used to think that boys and girls could be just friends. But since coming to uni, my opinion has changed massively. From my circle of friends, i am closest to two guys. One of whom i fancy like mad, and one of whom fancies me like mad.

Spending so much time together (alone) is a great way to get to know someone intimately and sometimes, it can become almost like a relationship. I've found that at one time or another, most of my male friends have had feelings for me and vice versa. I don't recall ever having had a friendship which was entirely platonic. I think it must be inbuilt - the primitive search for a mate/ partener will never leave us, not matter how civilised society becomes.

How do you your partners feel about that? Surely your partner should be your best friend?

i think its not possible for that to happen, i mean i had knew a bot who told me eveything and knew a lot about me, even though i didnt tell him and when we would sit next to each other it doesnt feel like your sitting next to your "friend" and he turned out to be bf lol

How about if someone is bi...would you say the same about friends with the same sex?

Cant happen
A guy has a penis and it is aware of tit or ass, friends or not, if that shows the penis will hunt, the penis doesnt like the heart, its selfish, the penis knows.

I'd like to think it can happen but everytime i've witnessed this it has just progressed to a relationship and then ruined the previous friendship.

It can happen. But more often from the girl's perspective, i think. There is no such thing as a platonic friendship between a male and femail, at least for the male. We are unable never to think of girls in a sexual way. But girls are more capable of just seeing people as friends.

It is a hard question and even if you are just friends people are always going to suspect things and maybe put thoughts into your mind.. happened with me and every time I see my mate I just have to ignore those possible feelings because he can never know I might be thinking that..
