A confusing guy

Right, this could take a while... I pulled this guy who is meant to be really nice and he insisted on walking me home even though it was well out of his way and I had a lift. Then we text each other a bit and then he went on holiday with his mates for two weeks and so he didn't get in touch. He came back on a monday and by friday I hadn't had a response but he was in the pub and he spoke to me and it was all fine. The next night he came in the pub for the last half hour to see me (he had been working until1.30) and I got a lift home with him. He text me but then stopped again and I was getting kind of annoyed at this point as I didn't know where I stood. So I asked him and he said he'd totally forgotton to text me back (charmng!). He said that he wasn't playing a game and wouldn't mess me around,that he didn't want a serious thing, just a bit of fun. I then thought he only wanted one thing but he said that he just wanted to see where it went. I then went out on Monday and he didn't but some of his mates did. I got hit on by two of his 'friends' but I chose not to do anything even though the guy had said that I could pull if I wanted and he didn't mind at all! It seems a bit daft to date someone who can't even be arsed to send a text. He's now gone on holiday again and has stopped texting me again. He knows I hate it when he doesn't reply so it's like he's playing a game. I can see what will happen, he will come back, not text and then try it on with me in the pub. Not meaning to sound bigheaded but I have a lot of lads who like me and I normally don't have to deal with someone being so cool with me. On the otherhand maybe he's deliberately being cool with me because he's been hurt before (his ex girlfriend cheated on him with a lad I know).

Does anyone have any ideas on how I should act? I'm definately not going to contact him because I'm not desperate but i just need to know what to say when I see him again.

Well i think the reason he don't wanna go to far with you goes back to when his ex cheated on him, he may have a geniune reason for not texting, lack of credit etc but surely you could give each other's home phone number.

Maybe what you also need to do is next time you do see him ask him honestly where you stand with him.
