Master, Strategic Management at RSM or Management at SSE?

Hi,

I need to chose between Master in Strategic Management at Rotterdam School of Management and Master in Management at Stockholm School of Economics (not International Business (CEMS MIM)).
My goal is to work for one of the top management consultancy firms as I graduate, or similar positions within management and strategy.
Which one should I pick?

SSE: http://www.hhs.se/Education/MSc/MBM/M/Pages/default.aspx
RSM: http://www.rsm.nl/master/msc-programmes/msc-strategic-management/

RSM is 1 year, SSE is 2. 2 years better than one?
RSM is abroad, SSE is in my home country. RSM better for international career?
SSE has opportunity for CEMS.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!
Thank you for your help.

Hey there neneball..
Well SSE and RSM are both exceptionally reputed schools in their respective countries and as such enjoy a lot of prestige among the employers and students alike.

The choice between the two is really a personal call because you cant go wrong choosing one over the other. As you have mentioned that SSE is in your home country, i believe you are a swedish national then, in which case RSM would make more sense if you really want to work on a foreign land for sometime or are looking forward to pick up a new language or maybe have an international experience. Because apart from this, the quality of teaching as well as employer activity are equivalent in both cases.
Coming to the duration of the program, well a 2 year programme need not necessarily be always favourable over a one year one and vice versa. It depends on how fast you want to enter the job market really. So while some people consider 2 years as a long duration of time to be away from employment and want 1 year shorter and intense programme, others may like the prospect of having a longer programme to pursue, mainly because the pace is somewhat a bit slower than in the 1 year case, plus in 2 year programmes you get to do some internships before joining the work force full time, as well get a chance to work on projects, clubs, learn a new language etc. So think over it and decide.
It is true that the RSM is pretty highly ranked for their International Management Programme, which ultimately leads to a CEMS MIM, but the other MSc programmes such as MScBA and Msc in strategy are also quite popular and graduates from all these niche specific specialised masters have found more than decent jobs in the EU. So think it through.
I have experience of aiding several students build their application from scratch and helping them get admits to schools such as RSM and SSE so i can vouch for the quality of both the schools first-hand. Rest its a matter of personal choice really.
P.S:- With RSM make sure you are aware of the language issue, which you dont have to consider for SSE being a swedish national.
