I was wondering what all your thoughts were on this, because I think it's one of the dumbest things I've ever seen.
"When a little boy asserts himself, he's called a “leader.” Yet when a little girl does the same, she risks being branded “bossy.” Words like bossy send a message: don't raise your hand or speak up. By middle school, girls are less interested in leading than boys—a trend that continues into adulthood. Together we can encourage girls to lead."
Is that so? First of all, I was a kid a little boy who "asserted himself" wasn't called a "leader," he was called an annoying little kid. Second, I remember student elections in school. The girls were just as interested, if not more interested, in leading than the boys. As far as I know, the girl who was our class president throughout middle school and high school wasn't called "bossy," and if she was I don't suspect it caused her significant distress.
Apparently Beyonce is behind this, which gives me another reason to dislike Beyonce.
The people who made this are the vocal majority but in reality the dumb minority. Let's ignore them.
Men also get called 'bossy', it isn't gender exclusive.
