Firstly, I believe it is the requirement of the registered keeper to know who was driving at a particular time, it will always go back to him/her in the end. Secondly, you may be able to request photographic proof. Surely using the time of the offence you can figure out who was driving the car?

Someone has to take the points... one of you needs to bite the bullet and take the points.

it was probably me, but thinking back an entire week is difficult!! I'm the only one who can really afford to have the points on my license anyway, soo. Do they have photographic proof if its just a van at the side of the road? That's what I'm guessing it must've been because I know I definately didn't see anything when I was driving last week.

Yep, that's a forward facing camera so I am pretty sure they will have a photo. You should just think back "where would I/Dad/Mum(whoever) have been driving at this time?" - should be obvious then.

Yeh you can get photographic proof....my Mum got caught when we went to Sheffield a few weeks ago and because she wasn't sure exactly where it was she asked for them to send a photo so she could see. They sent it back and they'd got rid of my (the passenger's) face by scratching it out!

i the picture has been altered then i'd suggest you appeal it. if they've scratched out the passengers face.. what else might they have done to it?

Yeah they have to get rid of the passengers face, in case it would incriminate you for something else, like cheating on your wife etc.

I didn't realise mobile vans took photographic evidence! The problem is, me and my dad both drove up the same road that day, only we can't remember who did at that time! And I don't remember seeing any nice colourful police van anywhere, or i'd of been panicking!! Will they always have photographic evidence? And if they don't, what happens then??

Know the law before you reply to the NIP, often the police don't and so you can squirrel your way out of a ticket .
