You hate doing the same thing over and over? You do realise weightlifting every week includes, usually, the same exercises over and over..

Oo gym cardio is an arse!!!

I'm pretty much the same, weights in gym but no cardio.

I recommend a sport of some sport, something where you do not realise you are actually doing cardio! Football, rugby, tennis, even martial arts. Something competitive where you will become fit and not realise it.

Personally, I always seem to do a lot lot more CV's when I don't realise I'm doing them, and competing:smile:

thing is , i know its true u lose muscle when u do cardio stuff , but to wat extent , coz i have worked on my body even if it aint toned lol

I think we talked about this some other time (or similar... me and biggie-n)

The muscle loss is quite minimal. Basically you may increase tonic muscle in relation to twitch, but I doubt you will be losing sleep over the little muscle lost!

If anything, the cardio will help reduce fat, making you become more "ripped" and thus make your muscles look more refined:smile:

Cardio is essential to any regime I feel, it helps your fitness and looks after the most important muscle of them all.... the heart:biggrin:

Never tried playing rugby? Competitive, very good cardio, and if you are quite big from weights it is always a bonus:biggrin:

In a sport like rugby (especially league) you can't avoid getting a good work out(as opposed to say football, where a player could just hang around on their goal line doing nothing)

Just a thought.

yeah thats the thing , i sort of need to find something for just me, my mates have mostly gone a aboard or just live to far away , and i was hoping to get started lol, well if it dont lose that much muscle , hmmm sounds good then

its a psychological thing.

its always about getting started. once u get started, theres no problem increasing and increasing distances and all. just get ur butt off the weights and try to run a bit

I'm trying to lose weight as well. Can someone list me what cardio exercise is? I know there's running, cycling, swimming but is there anything else?

Thanks.

Basically, any sort of exercise that gets you out of breath is cardio of some strength, but you need to do it for a good 20 mins or so to get the full benefit. The rowing machines I use have a calorie counter as well as all the split times/average watts etc, which can be really encouraging!

Reply 15

Yeah ideally you need to do it for at least 20 mins to build stamina although if you exercise at home you can break it up over the day which may mean you are actually more likely to do it. I do this with exercise dvds at home.

hmm well , i kind dont wanna give up my weights tho, i started today with like 25mins all together, like 15mins of rowing and 10mins on the running machine. Was ok , i prefer the feeling of doing weights tho , o well......

Reply 17

I don't think that anybody on this thread has suggested that you give up weights. All people have said is that cardio is also important for a balanced fitness regime.

Reply 18

yeah should i do cardio like 3 times a week, seems good to me.....

I used to really hate running, then I started to get good and as I progessed it started to become interesting, then I got shin splints! Jokes on me...
