Aesthetically I think quite slim girls look nice; the whole low-cut jeans/trousers thing which shows the pelvic bones is very sexy. But having said that, in terms of actually being with a girl I much prefer a fuller figure. Nice hips, a bit of a tummy and a decent bum! It's a personal preference though, and - as with every matter of opinion - you'll find everyone goes for something different.

IMO ideal figure = lead singer of the Pussycat Dolls. Slim but not skinny, just really toned.

I try to make my figure better by going to the gym and eating healthily, but I will never look like her and I know that, so I'm trying to be slim and toned while looking healthy.

the gym and regular exercise is a good
But don't over do it, a couple of hours every other day or you could plan your time out, which makes it easier

ditto to the pussycat doll woman. she's perfect. i also think kelly brook has a nice figure. and scarlet johanssen.

for guys, i don't like huge beer bellies... but i hate 6-packs and the whole rippling-muscles thing. i just like a man to have broad muscular shoulders and muscled arms, just like my bf  a flat chest is nice, but just no 6 packs..blekh

to be honest, half the girls i know like that whole hairless-oily-muscle thing... but personally, and with the other half of girls i know, i really cant stand it and find it ugly (no offence to anyone, sorry). it just doesn't look normal to me.. dono.

yeh stick-insect girls aren't too great :frown: but some of them are born that way and can't help it lol, like me. what to do?

I don't think that there is any such thing as an ideal figure for a guy or a girl. I think that everyone is different and people of all different shapes and sizes can look great.

I go to the gym and eat well not really for my figure but more to feel better about myself. I think that to make yourself more attractive though, all you need is to be confident about your body.

I think pro athletes have the best figures, both genders.

sometimes I like 6 sometimes 8, don't like odd figures though.

as a female, i really like evangeline lily's body (kate from lost).

i think it's quite similar to mine in that she had no waist and no/small hips (depends on how you look at it). so many people think lack of a waist and hips are unfeminine. i think that she dresses well for her shape and she can look sexy but strong. it makes me feel better about my own body because we have similar bodytypes. she is a really got example of a woman with a ruler/atheletic body type.

i know i'll never have a scarlet johansson body (not physicaly possible at all) so i think evangeline is a more realistic role model. i'm trying to lose a bit of weight so she's kind of like my inspiration (not thinspiration).

I'm a slim pear figure, and there's nothing I can do to fundamentally change that. So rather than aspiring toward body shapes selected by the media, I elect to make the most of what I have.

I can't afford the gym, so to keep healthy I do walking and running. I also do stretching and strengthening exercises for dance and basic gymnastics, with the positive effect of health/figure incidental.

girls like kate from lost are to thin for my liking, no offence to the likes of 'tocktick', its just my preference. I don't even think Keira Knightley is that attractive cos she's like a stick with a pretty face. I'd go for a charlotte church figure any day...

fair enough. to me, there is a difference betweeen the keira and evangeline. people keira, lindsey lohan and hilary duff are rails, while evangeline is not. she shouldn't be put in the same boat as those lot. idk, thats just my opinion.

i've seen girls who are very skinny and i just dont count evangeline as one. i think she looks healthy to me - like someone who takes care of her body but hasn't overdone it.

and like i said in my post, evangeline is a role model to me because she has a similar body-shape to me. i cant look to the likes of charlotte or someone with big hips to be my inspiration of an ideal bodytype because i will never ever even come close to looking like them at all. i cant grow hips over-night, not even if i put on a ton of weight. it will never happen.

that is not to say i don't like women with 'fuller' figures, i love scarlett johansson, kelly brook, beyonce (pre stupid weight loss), marilyn monroe etc. these women are like the very definition of feminine to me. but i'm not about to feel sorry for myself and think of myself as 'boyish' instead of feminine because i dont have wide hips and a small waist.

I agree with you. She looks healthy and toned, while the others look skinny. Big difference.

yes i totally agree with you about evangeline being toned and healthy.

i hate the way how some skinny people get stick for being slim nowadays. fair enough if they were stupid enough to diet like mad to get to an unhealthy weight but there are people who are born that way too. paris hilton is an example.. shes been skinny since she was a kid.

i was born really skinny and light and theres nothing more i would love than to put on a few pounds and fill out a bit but its hard. wish there more articles in magazines/papers etc on how to gain weight as well as losing it!

I'm naturally skinny too and I tried to gain weight on purpose recently. It doesn't look pretty! I've just got a thicker layer of fat around everything, and, as fat does, its managed to focus itself on particular areas. I still look skinny though. (psst, all I did was eat more of what I was already eating, no secrets there!)
