Honestly I’ve been to king Ed’s and I really enjoy it. The freedom, the professional manner and the college campus itself has made me enjoy it so much that I think college has been the best part of my education yet. I’m not a A* sweater (rather an average student getting a BCD last term). I think the teachers are quite friendly and generally good but a lot of my lessons have been cancelled since I started last September. The new library is amazing , looks amazing and feels much more modern than it was. Stourbridge isn’t a too bad of a high street either to use on your breaks. I have a mix of lengths of days for example , 2:45 to 4 on Monday to 8:40 to 4 on Friday (with a 2 n half hour break in the middle). I do honestly think king Ed’s is a really good college for this area , my only negatives is the fact they make you go to form time and make you do a pointless enrichment which you get forced to do even if you don’t like it and it would be beneficial if the college had more indoor social areas as the ones they have are ALWAYS PACKED and you end up having to pay to eat in KFC or McDonald’s to get in the warm and sit indoors away from winter.

Hey im intending on joining in septwmber for year 12, i live 2 hhours away and would be taking 2 buses to get their and home each day while also working to help my family. Ill be studying A level fine art, sociology and English lang and lit. Any knowledge on how good these areas are? Is there anything essentially bad i should know before i enter the college? It would be much appreciated )

Heyo!
I’ve been attending King Ed’s since September this year and I agree with pretty much all you’ve said.
Though I have to admit, it seems actually better now during the COVID times.
We don’t have form time or do any enrichment, but to be fair, only teacher run ones are available which is a bit of a bummer.
There’s not always a lot of area indoors, but since there’s a lot of people at least people are encouraged to go home if they’re finished for the day and year 12s and 13s now have separate seating areas, that goes for outdoors as well.
For me, I start 8:40 everyday, and 3 of those days go to 3:45 (year 12s finish 15 minutes early compared to year 13), that’s likely because of my subjects choices. Then for the other 2 days, it’s 10:55 and 9:45, but that’s because of ‘Core Maths’ and ‘Maths for Physics’ lessons.
