I was just wondering if this happens to anybody else. When i floss my teeth my gums bleed and then my teeth & gums feel wierd afterwards. I know its a bit of a strange question but it happens pretty much every time.

oh damn, maybe you have sensitive gums and you are flossing too hard? this has never happened to me so i'm sorry i can't offer much advice.

One of mine does that all the time. It's no small amount of blood either. Weird.

it could be a sign of gum disease. i suggest you get down to your dentist.

I forgot to mention it to my dentist but i had a check up last week and everything was fine so i don't think it's gum desease.
Yeah if theres a lot it worth checking out. If its just a little bit then it may be a sign your being a bit to aggressive with your brushing/flossing

No, mines quite alot of blood too. Maybe like someone said, i might just be flossing to hard or something.
Try swishing some warm salty water around your mouth, apparently that helps a bit:smile:. Or get some antibacterial mouthwash that treats gum disease, won't hurt even if you don't have it

I adopted flossing recently since it's apparnetly 'more important than brushing' (though i still brush) and on the first times it bled somewhat. Then I used lysterine aswell and now it's all good.

well, unless it looks like your teeth are blatantly rotting away, then your dentist wont pick up on a problem. it's like if a person has sensetive teeth their dentist wont know until they tell him/her.

i'm not saying you have gum disease but i think you should book yourself an emergency appointment. at the very least, s/he can rule gum disease out and tell you what may be the cause of your problem. you are not really going to get expert advice on this mb, are you? just a bunch of possible explanations which may not even apply to you.

I wouldn't worry, at worst your teeth will probably fall out and the little kids in your area will shout "Mind the Gap" as you walk past.

No offence, but i didn't ask for oppinions or any diagnosis, i just asked if this happens to anybody else. It's a simple yes or no.

You have gingivitis. Which is a gum disease, but incredibly common. Just remember to floss everyday, and a plaque fighting mouthwash helps. Also remember to get your teeth cleaned by the dentist every 6 months.

No offence, but after reading what gingivitis is, i don't think i do. I think it's simply what the information somebody posted on here.. it's because i have just started flossing.

Oh and also, forgot to add

Brush in circular motions  I went to see my dentist the other week, and she couldn't stress this any further. SO many people out there just brush back and forth, up and down, when you're actually meant to brush in a circular motion. This way the gums stay happy and healthy

I think I'm gonna be referring this dentist to my friends too, b/c she is quite good.
