I had my car scrapped last month, and got a new one. However, I have received a tax reminder for my scrapped car to renew my tax. Do I need to call DVLA to rectify this mistake? I received a certificate of destruction and DVLA sent me a letter to say they have been notified of this and I am no longer the registered owner of my old vehicle. Any opinions on this? Sorry, motoring is not my specialty.

I would definitely give them a ring and not rely on anyone or anything else rectifying them. DVLA are a bit stringent about mistakes and like to blame you for them.

If you've got the notification from the DVLA that you're no longer the registered keeper then file it away somewhere safe. You can ignore all future correspondence about that particular car.
