Henley Business School VS Manchester Business School

Hello everyone,

I am an overseas student and really need some advice from you guys.

I got an offer of Msc International Management from Henley Business School (University of Reading), and the other one is from Manchester Business School.

Which one is better interms of job opportunity, course content and reputation in the UK? What is each city like?

Thanks

MBS is the larger (students, courses, lecturers) and more established B-School. It also has possibly a broader recruiter base either in campus presentations or use MBS as target uni. Reputation (UK and international) goes to MBS unless it is a specialist subject such as Henley's MSc Real Estate. I visited a friend at MBS and she loves her course.

Manchester: 2nd largest city in the UK, Northern Hub with suburbs. More cosmopolitan (concerts, museums and theatres) and ethnic with Indian and Chinese shops. Better shopping

Reading: Affluent, good transport, more middle England and computer firms located there (Oracle, HP). Shops close earlier.

If you want to work outside the UK afterwards, then Manchester is better.

If I want to work in the UK, does the fact that Reading is near London has any advantages for job opportunity?

I think Manchester's reputation is still better.

Speaking of locations, you will have to consider the traveling time, cuz you will have interviews in London offices if you want to work there.

Henley Business School does have various advantages. Especially the industry link shouldn't be underestimated!
Also HBS has a very strong international student base - linking in with the alumni network. I am currently studying at HBS and did make exactly your choice in favour of Henley.
But definitely there are negative points of Henley too. Manchester is significantly bigger than Reading - for sure. And the nightlife might more diverse too? But many many freshers are running around Reading too.. ;-)

Why don't you approach their ambassador students, and ask them for their opinion?
