i doubt it. I live in london and if u becareful with ur money u won't be spending £30 000. But Lets say it is £30 k....U'll be able to earn it back in less than a yr when u start working. BSc Economics @ lse is one of the most prestigous degrees u can do in UK (alongside with PPE @ oxford and Mathematics tripos at cambridge)

If your studying L101 at lse, what do you think are the job prospects like? I've got Warwick as an option, and that will be alot cheaper. I would really like to work in N.America when as soon as i graduate, even though i am english.

any replies would be much appreciated

If you want to work in N. America, it's got to be LSE. Its international reputation is excellent. In my experience, Americans discussing British universities will almost invariably know about Oxford, Cambridge and LSE. Far fewer wil have heard of Warwick.

if you're willing to live in hackney with flatmates, rent can be as cheap as 50 pounds per week.
you might also want to try south east london [although not too south east], it's quite cheap.
you could also run for a committee spot and you'd be guaranteed a place in LSE accommodation for your second and possibly your third year should you get re-elected.
also, you might want to consider independent halls [ex. unite students].
but yeah, forget living in knighstbridge, chelsea or south ken on a small budget.

hackney is not a very safe area. i was just trying to say that there is a broad choice of places to live in and different ranges.
bankside house is in SE1, it is actually an up and coming area. just as long as you don't go too far south [i.e. elephant & castle].
tower hill is also very nice and you can find cheap places.
i mean, it's difficult to speak hypothetically but what i would suggest is to look as early as possible and don't only go to an agent. the loot is a really good way to find a place that won't be extortionate rent-wise but remember to watch out for tricks. go to the accommodation's office and ask for advice before you start looking for a place.
most lse students live around Old Street or north of holborn on the piccadilly line [manor house f.ex] but the most important thing is for you to find flatmates. rent is considerably cheaper once you find people to live with. you can always conver the living room into an extra bedroom and reduce rent further.
hope this helped and sorry for scaring you with hackney [although i've been there before and i never got mugged].

That depends where you get, I am moving in with my boyfriend in the second year to a really nice house in South K and it will cost me £90p/w. I wouldn't rule them all out automatically
