Do KS1 and KS2 primary teachers get paid differently?

I'm in the process of applying for a schools direct PGCE and had my second interview yesterday. It went well so I'm keeping everything crossed for a positive result.

Of course, if I'm successful I'll have to choose KS1 or KS2 for my placements throughout 2014/2015. Whilst I'm aware that there are many, many things that I need to take into account, I wondered if, once qualified, KS1 and KS2 teachers are on different salary scales?

Thanks.
Not at all.

Also, you will HAVE to do a placement in the opposite key stage at some point on your course, so you will get experience in both.

Do you have an inkling which you would prefer?

Most schools follow the teachers' pay scale, primary and secondary. The majority of teachers will start on an M1 - the exceptions to that are due to experience and demand...so a new teacher could go straight on to an M2 or 3 because they teach physics, for example, which is an in-demand subject, or they may have been teaching FE for X years. So, a new KS1 and KS2 teacher should be on the same pay at the same school (unless experience pushes them up a scale).

Academies and independent schools can set their own pay scales and exceptions.
