Hey, I am doing about limiting factors in photosynthesis. In my text book it says too much water waterlogs the soil which "reduces uptake of minerals" and I am just wondering exactly how/why. I am guessing it is something to do with active transport or osmosis but I can't quite put my finger on it.
Thanks in advance.

Waterlogged soil means the soil isn't aerated (less oxygen) so the plants cannot take up as much oxygen as they need for respiration to produce ATP, ATP is needed for the active uptake of mineral ions from the roots - does that help?
