So I'm currently completing my application for a MSc Psychology conversion course - looking to apply to Essex, Nottingham and Chester. I know these courses are heavy on the research side and therefore have hit a little snag in my application which I'm struggling to explain in a good light.

I graduated in July 2013 with a first-class honours degree in Sociology with Criminology. For personal reasons in my third year I elected not to complete a dissertation and therefore feel my application may suffer as a result of my lack of research skills. I have no doubt in my mind that I'd be able to pick them up, I'm a fast learner and my overall grade demonstrates a certain level of academic ability but I'm worried that my application will be looked at in a negative light as a result. Does anyone have any advice on how I can word/explain this in an interview or even in my personal statement? I feel mentioning it is unavoidable due to the research-heavy nature of these courses.

How did you graduate without completing your dissertation? I may not be as important as you think. Telling the what happened and example what your passions in terms of research are maybe?

It was an option in my degree to choose normal modules as you would have in first and second year in place of a dissertation. I'm hoping like you say it may not be as important as I think!
