Not sleeping and 'lazyness'

Basically I think Ive realised why Im so lazy and sleep till the afternoon. I always have to wait until my dad goes to bed before I can (or else he wakes me up getting ready for bed and I can't get back to slepp) which is about 12 - 1.00 am. So I then go to bed, he gets up at 4.00 am for work (on his days off he gets up at about 6.00) then I always wake up too and after this 3 - 5 hour sleep I can't get back to sleep again. So I either lie in bed trying to get to sleep for ages (in which case I fall aslepp at 9.00 and wake up at 1.00) or I get up, do something then go back to bed.

Ive tried getting up and staying up at 4.00 or 6.00 so I'l be tired the next night but the same happens. Has anyone got any ideas? This even happens when I take sleeping tablets.

Oh incase your wondering how he gets enough sleep, well he falls asleep on the couch at about 9 pm - 1.00 then goes to bed. Then he slepps in the afternoon when he comes home from work.

I have done countless times so has my mum but he is still the same, he admitted to waking me up on purpose by knocking on the wall because im lazy. There is no point asking him anymore. Im not like 100% lazy I mean I do voluntary work and do sports its just because I don't have a paid job.

Why not suggest he actually goes to bed to sleep instead of sleeping on the sofa? Or get a job so he can stop playing the lazy card and you're able to use it as a reason for needing sleep.

Im trying to get a job, he likes staying up and watching TV at night he said and I doubt he will change his habits. I need to figure out a way to either sleep through noise or get back to sleep quick once I wake up.

a hammer? Ok serious suggestion now, ear plugs or mood music being pumped throught headphones. You'd be suprised how much those block out the noise
