Magnetic Field Strengths of Earth/Mercury/Venus

"The observed magnetic field strengths of the Earth, Mercury and Venus are
very different. Explain why this is thought to be so."

I know that Mercury's field strength is 1.1% of Earths, and Venus does not have a magnetic field, but why is this so?
