I ****ing hate them. I don't mind bugs in general that much, but these little bastards really disgust me. I just went into the utility room in my house where my fridge, washing machine, tumble dryer, etc, all are, and the floor was crawling with them! I really can't stand them. Anyone else share my hatred of them?

Not really - they don't sting, they don't bite, they don't stink, they're pretty small, they move pretty fluidly and not too fast, they can't climb on the ceiling...

Pretty innoccuous.

Also, they are close descendents of the first ever creatures to move onto land, making them slightly more interesting.

I salute your logic, and wish I could share it, but for some reason they make me sick. And the fact that they move "pretty fluidly" is one of the thigns I hate, and they do move quite fast as well.... ugh.

Then prevent them from getting there in the first place...
My grandparents used to own some panpipes which they hung on the wall. One day when I was younger, I picked them up and began to play. I turned the panpipes upside down and a whoooole ton of silverfish fell out and started 'moving fluidly' all over me.

That experience has put me off them for life... they're gross! :thumpdown
Yeah they're pretty hideous, not as bad as spiders though *turns white at the thought*

Ew - I hate any kind of insects whe there are thousands of them. OP - I agree, silverfish are disgusting.

I've never seen one in my life, and having just googled it- i don't think I ever want to either.
Silverfish hmmm...ffs they are just tiny creatures. If i were you, I would be more worried about why they were in your utility room to start with rather than their appearance.

They are horrible.Nothing disgust me more than them (and maggots)
urgh.
>_<
What a hateful thread.

I don't think I've ever actually seen one before. But from the pictures they look sort of like stubby earwigs and I really really hate earwigs so I can understand why they're so unpopular. For a long time I was convinced earwigs actually did climb in your ears while you were sleeping and eat your brains or something.

Why do so many insects have to be so gross?

I really hate their wings, i mean the colour its just all wrong. YOU cannot be silver and have wings, all those who break that rule should be shot
for crying out loud, they are just ****ing insects alright. ffs just grow up! I personally don't mind them, at all:rolleyes:
i hate silverfish too, when i was little i used to find them in my Monopoly box whenever i got the game out the cupboard, i wouldnt touch them coz i hate the way they move
I think they're cute ^_^
They are pointless! What do they actually do all day, apart from moving about 'fluidly'?

I really like them actually, we get them in our bathroom and I don't think there's anything creepy looking about them. Then again I actually quite like most insects, I find them really interesting but in the past I haven't been fond of earwigs, they aren't nice.

But from the pictures they look sort of like stubby earwigs

They don't have the horrible colouring, creepy forked tail and they aren't as big as earwigs. Earwigs are blech.
i got one as a pet:biggrin:

Our house seems to be infested with them - from the first floor to the third, people keep mentioning the darn things.
I don't mind them - have no irrational hatred.......but they kep appearing in my bed! :frown:

And there's nothing you can do apart from continually hoover and check dark corners, because our halls have ensuite, which is what attracts them as they like living in damp places and come out in the dark.

I find this rather disturbing whilst lying in bed wondering whether I've missed one........

Grr - and can't pest-control them because our rooms are so small we'd probably poison ourselves :P
