Which accommodation? Bower Ashton Student

Hey,

I'm going to be studying Filmmaking and Creative Media in September at Bower Ashton.

I was just wondering where is the best accommodation, i've read a few bad reviews of Marketgate. So I was hoping to get some feedback on other accommodations?

Thanks, Seb

Hey not sure what is the best accommodation, but I'm possibly going to accept my offer at UWE for filmmaking and creative media...I haven't been able to visit the campus on an open day or anything, but I have been around Bristol. Do you like the Uni?

Hey, thanks for the reply

Yeah the uni is nice, it's kind of old but the facilities they have are really good. It's the course that really got me interested - it just seemed perfect for me. Look forward to (hopefully) meeting you in September

Hi, I'm going to be doing Fine Art at Spike Island and Bower Ashton. I found that Harbour Court is the closest? But no-one on these threads has suggested that one? Am I being really stupid and not noticing its a different kinda accommodation or something haha?

p.s, have you already applied for accommodation?

Thanks, Ruby

Hey thanks for the reply!

I've applied already now to transom house, it's cheaper than marketgate and looks pretty nice.

Thanks, seb.

Thanks for replying…

Sorry to sound completely ignorant: I can't find any photos of the accommodation? Especially the Centre City ones? How did you view Transom house or any of the other ones?

And congrats on getting it all applied for!

Thanks!

Yeah I completely agree! There is no pictures anywhere, I figured all of the accommodations in the city centre will be pretty crappy and just went for the one that looked the best on the uwe website. They really need to do some sort of video around the accommodations. Check out the unite website that's where they have most of the pictures.

All the best. Seb.
I've heard Cherry court is supposedly pretty nice with lots of Bower Ashton students, so lots of creative vibes. It's smaller than Market Gate by about 300 people, so more familiar faces over time which should be good for socialising etc.
Anybody also considered Anchor Road?

I know it's so strange there seems to literally be no photos of the city centre accommodation that I'm interested in.

Well thanks for the response, and good luck with everything!

Ah is Cherry Court meant to be a good one then? I thought that one sounded good! Have you seen it?

Yeah Anchor Road (Harbour Court right? ) Is my top choice at the moment. No-one on these feeds though has been suggesting that one at all? And there isn't one photo of the place.

Are you studying at Bower Ashton also?

Thanks

Ruby
Yeah i'm in Bower Ashton, studying photography. Yourself?

Yeah Cherry Lane is right next to Stokes Croft which is full of nice bars and cafe's and sweet graffiti! I like the area that Anchor Road is in, next to the canal is lush.
I think the reason there's no photographs is because it's a new build for September 2014, http://www.primestudentliving.com/bristol/harbour-court. Which would be real nice to move into if everything is s****y and new.

Bugger! That place looks really nice :frown:

I just made a choice out of the accommodations that UWE offered and I swear Harbour Court wasn't there... Perhaps I was just rushing to get it sorted though and picked the first one that took my fancy though.

Thanks

I am also going to be on Bower Ashton, but doing Drama with Creative Writing. I've been looking into Harbour Court today and although it seems really nice, it is also the most expensive. Does anyone know anything about the company, Prime Student Living? I've been looking into UNITE and it all seems a bit negative, but I can't find anything on Prime Student Living.
Studing Filmmaking and Creative Media too. Cherry Court is currently my top choice with Harbour Court as the second, Marketgate didn't seem all that nice and I read some horrible things about it.

I'm going to be doing illustration (at Bower Ashton) in September, I'm really liking the look of Harbour Court but it's just so expensive! I live relatively close to Bristol (about 25 mins away) so I might just go and see the actual building, its location etc. So annoying we can't see the rooms! Anyone else considering it too?

I went to look at the area that Harbour Court is in yesterday and I really, really love it. It's right down the road from the aquarium and there's a bus stop just down the road. A lovely lady at the bus stop told us that you could get a bus to Bower Ashton and it would take around 7 minutes. If it takes such a short amount of time on the bus, I'm sure it is within easy cycling/walking distance as well!

Just to add- (sorry for the double post) I think the bus pass that comes with Harbour Court only works for the UWE red busses!

Ahhhhhh that's so helpful thank you! Didn't realise Bower would be so close. I applied for accommodation today, put harbour court as my first choice so fingers crossed! x

You're welcome! I'm sorry if any of that information is wrong, it's just what I was told when I was there. I've put it as my first choice as well, so the fingers are crossed here as well! xx
