According to the Daily Mail, the average spend on a Mother's Day is £12 - and they reckon that's tight. Seems quite reasonable to me, but then Mother's Day isn't a big deal in my family. Apparently Liverpudlians are the most generous, spending more than £50, while those in Southampton and Sheffield spend the least (£6).

How much do other people spend on cards and gifts for this day?

depends on the year.

I took my mam out for an early mother's day meal a couple of weeks ago, so I spent about £10 on her there, plus I've bought her a card and some chocolates, so that's another £6 thereabouts.

So £16 this year I guess.

Some years I spend more than that, other years I spend less.

My kids (with the help of my husband) usually spend about £5-£10 on me for mother's day, but this year they've pushed the boat out and ordered me a £54.99 ring which I've been wanting for months. It won't be ready for another 3 weeks but that's okay I don't mind waiting.

My sister and I just got her flowers (2 bunches for under £10). We have this thing in my family where we feel bad if we receive anything expensive and don't really spend much on birthdays/christmas etc. for each-other as a result. Thought that counts and all that!

I spent around £15. Even my mum thinks it's unnecessary as do I, but I get something anyway.

Actually, it was only thanks to someone on TSR that I actually knew it was Mothers Day tomorrow, so without them, it would of been £0.

Card £2
Chocolates £5
Wine £5
Few other bits £10

So £22. It changes year on year and depends how much spare cash I have at the time!

About £10. Usually it'll be like £30-£40 but it's always the same things. DVDs that are never opened and become expensive paperweights. You try getting a surprise but she'll turn it down.
