Software Engineering Bsc or Computer Science MEng

Currently hold very similar conditionals for both at strathclyde uni, However cant decide between the two. Courses from what I can see are really similar.

The SW Engineering degree has a 12 month industrial placement whereas the CS degree only as 2x 3 month industrial placements. This pushes me more towards the software engineering but since the computer science has an extra year at uni,and is an MEng - would that be the better choice?

Any help appreicated.

The CS degree is broader so you'll have more options at the end of it, plus the MEng would be an advantage over the BSc, but if you don't think you'd like the content then go with SE.

Depends what you want to do in the future, computer science arguably gives you more flexibility in a career choice.
Also, you would do software engineering as part of most computer science courses.

When I was applying (>4 years ago, to different unis) we were advised to apply for the Masters course if we weren't sure, because it is easier to swap on to the Bachelor's course than the other way round, due to the way funding and loans work. This may no longer apply, but it is probably worth checking how easy it would be to swap courses if you change your mind once you get there.

The content of the CS course is more me as you take business/legal classes aswell so its not all pure programming. The thing drawing me towards the software course is its 12 month placement- its pretty valuable. Or is it just me?
