Commitment Trouble

Im still pretty young (18) so its not a major concern but i find that i cant be in a serious relationship and i dont really know why. I was in one serious relationship that last for near a year, but that finished because my girlfriend cheated on me.

Now i find it really hard to go past a certain point with girlfriends, i mean i really like the girls that i see, but i always pull away from the relationship before it gets to serious. And then when i see them with someone else i really regret doing it.

But when ever it starts to get serious, i kinda panic, is this because of what happened in my one serious relationship, or is it just that serious relationships are not for everyone? I think i want to be in one it just that i find it hard to settle into one.

Any advice?

yes. you're protecting yourself from getting hurt. take a chance and learn to trust again.

Being cheated on has this effect, it hits your confidence and makes you feel like its harder to trust but the best thing is have a go, when you do meet a girl get to know her more before going further.

Id say you have to push yourself to go that extra mile. Be srong and force yourself to get serious with someone you really like. remember that it hurts when a relationship breaks up, but it DOES get better in the end, and if you dont try it, you cant have the hapiness that you could find.
