I have an unconditional for GLASGOWW and I'm going there next year for vet med

Just wondering if there are any vets who have stayed at Murano? I want to meet loads of different people, not just vets (as vets have a 5 year course to meet each other in anyway) and Murano looks like the best place for this and for socialising etc?

Any glasgow vet students' opinions on accommodation would be cool though

I'm going to Glasgow as well, and I'm think I'm going to apply for Murano. Thinking the same the as you, not really a fan of Wolfson if its catered and right next to the vet school, want to go somewhere where you'd mix with other folk.

Does anyone know what times classes start and finish each day in 1st year of vet school? Just trying to work out if the buses to Queen Margaret residence (15 and 6b I think) tie in with lecture times.

most days in first year are 9am starts - 5pm. although some days you will finish earlier.

Congratulations on your offer!
I personally stayed in Wolfson Halls - wasn't a fan of getting up early haha. but yes the catered food was pretty crap (was nice not to have to do any washing up though!)
As for Murano - there were a few people in my year who stayed there, and you'll need to get a bus/cycle in every day. Murano is known as the '"party halls" and from the experience of my friends who stayed there , it is a lot of noise and going out and fun - so depends on what you're like as a person really as to whether you'll enjoy it! Even though I stayed in the "vet halls" , most of my friends are non-vets and I've lived with non-vets throughout 2nd- 5th year, so it isn't exclusively vets at Wolfson. its up to you and if you really don't enjoy whatever one you pick (you probably will) then there is always the option of moving accomodation.

Hey

I stayed at Murano St, (about 9 years ago :/ ) it's reputation as the party halls is probably warranted lol, however I met lots of really great people and the individual flats (made up of maybe 8-10ppl) seemed to really bond. All of us were certainly pretty tight knit and I would imagine that is normal as most will b far from home.

Hope that helps
