So, i got all my offers back and, unfortunately, my first choice Edinburgh sent me a rejection. This means i have to choose between St Andrews, Glasgow and Dundee (have an offer from Aberdeen but am not taking it). I'm NOT asking you to choose for me, but i wanted to hear some thoughts about things i've heard of the three:

1. I've been told that while St Andrews is good for biology such as marine biology, it's not the best if you want to do molecular biology. Is St Andrews bad at it or is it just not as good as the larger organism side of biology?
2. I'm worried that, although Dundee is very good for life sciences, the whole University might put off employers as it isn't as renowned overall as much as say St Andrews or Edinburgh (worrying about this as a family friend turned down an offer from Cambridge to go to a Welsh uni (Swansea i think?) because the course there was better and is currenly not doing too well jobs wise).
3. Finally this might be a silly worry, but with the whole Scottish independence thing and not knowing how Uni's will be funded has me concerned (Glasgow for example is part of the Russell Group so gets a lot of it's research money from the UK fund). I'm aware Dundee is funded by a few private companies and St Andrews accepting international students might help it but, apart from that, i know nothing.

Once again i'm NOT asking for a choice, just what you might have heard about these issues. Thanks!

Hi there!
First off, I'm haven't applied for biochemistry so I don't know that much, sorry about that.
But i have heard, like yourself that Dundee is a very good Uni. Is it Abertay or Dundee you've applied for? Sorry I get both of them mixed up!
That's all I've heard of so far but good luck in your choices! :goodluck:
