Stretchmarks

So, a while ago I gained some weight quite rapidly and as a results have some stretchmarks around my belly and hips. It makes me really self-conscious considering i'm only 18 and haven't even had a baby yet. I'm not obese or anything but I am curvy. I feel like no one will ever want to be with me. It's quite depressing really.:frown:

Most men prefer curvy. And think about yourself when you look at a women's magazine - do you prefer a stick thin Victoria Beckham/Keira Knightley? Or a more shapely Liv Tyler/Catherine Zeta Jones? Who would you rather sleep with? As my boyfriend put it, he likes "something to hold on to"

As for the stretch marks, there's a new oil for that and scars being advertised on TV lately that claims to reduce their appearance. Not sure of the name though, I'm afraid. And as for the belly - do some stomach crunches?

Doesn't work, I'm sending a complaint letter

If its the same one im thinking of, its called Bio Oil- ive tried it and it didnt work for me personally. Plus its a pain having to put it on twice a day and waiting for it to dry before getting dressed. Although, Loreal do a gel which I have yet to try. I have ugly stretchmarks that ive had all my life- inherited from my mum and for some reason they seem even more stubborn to get rid of!

Some lines are completely tolerable, but obesity is a no-no, so i don't personally see why the OP has all this angst....

As for the belly, she shouldnt do stomach crunches...if she wants to lose weight, she should do some running, jogging, swimming, cycling, whatever....not doing stomach crunches involving a slightly flabby stomach, if indeed the OP has one of the kind...

One says zinc-lotion is making them resolve faster.
Getting a tan makes them mostly invisible too. But they won't go away anytime soon..
I have them.
But theyve never really bothered me all that much. mainly cuz when im not tan you cant really see them and when i am you cant realy see them either.
no one notices. =D

They fade, I had them at 15 so don't fret.
Cheers for the extra input white_haired_wizard, I'm not exactly a personal trainer, hehe  (Hence the question mark after "crunches"). But most women have body issues. The female beauty industry is worth SO much money, and we're constantly bombarded by images of slim toned women, it's hard to keep your confidence levels up. I'm fairly confident, but I hate my stomach when it bloats.

Bio Oil, that's it! Shame it didn't work though :frown:

ahh stetchmarks- i kno exactly how u are feeling, i have the on my belly, hips and the botom of my back - but mine was due to the fact that i was fat, and lost a lot of weight. ive tried all the diff types of oils, cremes, etc that you can get and none of them seem to work! i guess it ones of those 'gota live with it' situations!!

Thanks guys...I feel much better after reading all your posts. I've tried bio oil but it's crap. I've pretty much inherited my stretch marks from my mom too I think because i'm not fat (i'm a size 12) but i sort of had a growth spurt if you like. My mom had the stretch marks too. It's nice knowing that i'm not some freak of nature though and other people have them too.

sure you're not?

no you're so right, you're not lol (eurghhh 'lol') and neither am i yayyyyy... And, many men have body issues, myself included, at the present. I weigh ok for my height, lost 2 stone from 13st to 11st in this last year but want to get toned now. Unfortunately travelling these last 2 weeks has probably put a third of a stone on me....:frown: I'll just be working my ass off when i get back home tonight from Amsterdam, to shift some weight and tone up....

remember, not just women who have body issues!!!

I thought you might say that! Currently the female beauty industry is much obviously bigger, but I'm worried for the men of this world because the male beauty industry is growing too. Have you seen the new L'Oreal advert for a male anti-wrinkle cream?..."What you think are laughter lines (or something like that), she thinks are premature wrinkles." NO, I think they're laughter lines, the guy looks great anyway, and why are you trying to make him feel as bad as you like to make me feel with your fake tan/exfoliating adverts?? Male cases of anorexia are also on the rise - the fashion/beauty industry has found new victims :frown:

And to the guy who said Keira Knightly - so you like your women with a pre-teen look, huh? Would much rather Liv Tyler myself.

Sure you can call it what you want tbh but she is hot.....
vitamin e oil is teh only thing that has helped mine, that really worked for me
Aloe vera gel worked well for me. You can buy it in places like Holland and Barrett.

And now you can get all this for just £20, hardly a celebrity price tag

its all a scam! the adults i know who use never use anti wrinkle cream have no wrinkles, therefore the wrinkle cream must make you get them more therefore making women buy more of it in order to get rid of the wrinkles the anti wrinkle cream gave them
that made no sence at all i apologise
