I'm a thief...but I don't want to be one

Whenever i see something i like, such as a pair of earrings or a key ring or something small like that, i just steal it. my parents are going through money problems and i dont like asking them for money and my budget is quite low too. but i really like it and so i just take it, esp coz i feel its unfair as all of my friends have so much jewellery and clothes, and my parents work so hard and still....i don't know how to explain...i know that its really bad to steal but i feel that its so easy...but i want to stop now...help me please

Er, just don't take things. I live with my mom and brother, my mom is the only one who earns any money and she earns hardly anything despite working incredibly hard, my family has always been very poor, to the point of verging on losing the house. My dad doesn't help out or anything like that. So basically I'm in exactly the same situation but I manage not to steal. Don't blame your circumstances! Get a job, then you can afford to buy stuff.

meybe you should get a part time job... or if you think you might take summat in the shops then dont go in them, so you can avoid the temptation

what do you do with the keyring afterwards!?

Kleptomania.

It's unfair now, but remember, three years down the line you and your friends will probably be in the same boat. Take bunthulhu's advice and get a job - that way you'll have more money than your friends would know what to do with, and probably make yourself some new friends (and get back some self-esteem) at the same time! Especially with it being the summer now, it should be easy to find a summer job and then extend that to part-time work if it's needed after the holidays.

yeah as people have said the best thing would be to get a job, then you can have money to buy things then maybe help your parents out,Its good that you've spoke about it,and realised how wrong it is though.

i think the OP should hand himself into the police...

kleptomania

The person repeatedly yields to the impulse to steal objects that are needed neither for personal use nor for their monetary worth.

Just before the theft, the patient experiences increasing tension.

At the time of theft, the patient feels gratification, pleasure or relief.

These thefts are committed neither out of anger or revenge nor in response to delusions or hallucinations.

The thefts are not better explained by Antisocial Personality Disorder, Conduct Disorder or a Manic Episode.

But it sounds like, the OP is committing it out of anger/revenge; s/he's angry that her/his parents work so hard and are so poor and s/he's angry that her/his friends have better things than s/he does? Gah, lots of slashes.

I think the OP should tell someone, first her parents, and maybe see a doctor in case this is kleptomania.

what, so he can give them antibiotics?

If that was in response to my comment, then no, but who else is medically qualified to diagnose a mental disorder? He could refer the OP to a psychiatrist.

I stole a 2006/7 diary today from the stationary cupboard of the office I was working in. Go me!

I don't think God is the best choice for diagnosing mental disorders unless of course his first name is Doctor

Do you want to justify what you say or are all 994 of your posts this worthless?

You should check out the Sex in the shower thread, where this guy has also been posting. He's just being provocative and like all children who need attention, the best thing to do is ignore him:biggrin:

Unfortunately, it seems those posts have been deleted. :p: Probably with just cause too.

If you ignore him does he go away?

I am going to invent something that'll let people punch tossers via computer screens. That'll definitely make me rich, very rich indeed.
