high school transcript

what does the high school transcript required by the universities from international students include? all grades from high school? does it include grades from preIB? and before? what years? I am starting IB this September, it is Year 11 in Poland, junior year.

I worked very hard this year but my grades aren't that great, because I focused on passing IB entrance exams rather than on my grades and ended up with avarage of 4.2/6 :frown:

it depends to which universities you are applying to.

in general, for the US they want the last 4 years
however, the UK just wants your IB predicted grades which you will have at the beginning of Year 12.

really? i am going to apply to some medical schools in uk, and for example on the CAF they request high school transcript and i just wonder does that include the preIB year, cause if it is only IB1 that would be great

hi  if you want to apply for uni in the UK, what they need from you is your personal statement (something between an essay and a CV), a reccommendation from your teacher, probably a piece of information about your additional qualifications, and above all, your predicted IB grades (this is a sort of funny game in which your teacher tries to guess how much you are going to score on your exam).
After that, they will most often give you a conditional offer of a place (eg. we only want you if you score 6 in Maths and 5 in Physics on your diploma with 36 points overall, etc.).
They won't need to know what was your mark for homework in your German class two years ago, or how good you were doing at tests in Maths every Friday, but of course, if you have good grades at your school (like the best in your class or so) you can brag about it in your personal statement (but remember to focus on extracurricular activities too)

Nonetheless, If you want to study in the USA, your university will often ask you to send them your transcripts from your high school (for Poland, that will mean ALL component marks from the last three years). A friend of mine needed to fax something like that to the US (a few sheets of paper).

thanks for help:biggrin:

I know what I need etc and moer or less how does the application process look like, but on the cambridge application form there is written:
If you are taking non-UK qualifications, you should submit a copy of your secondary/high school transcript
and details of the marking/grading scale used, both in English

so does it mean they want to know my grades from before I started IB too?

Hi,

Yes, they normally expect you to include the two years before IB.

Choose Oxford then, I applied there and there was no problem with transcripts - they simply didn't need any
