gap jeans

what type of gap jeans do you wear if you buy them at all. i was in gap today and tried on these two absolutely amazing pair of jeans - slim bootcut and western flare bootcut. they were both so flattering but unfortunately, were WAY too small for me, whch is espesh annoying since they were only £12.99.

also, how do you work out what size you should wear because i tried on so many pairs but couldn't seem to get it right. i wear a size8/10 normaly so what size would i need to get? also, do you know wheter they have shorter leg lengths for us short arses?

I'm usually a 10 in trousers but I had to get a size 12 when I bought a pair of Long and Leans. The shortest length they do is called 'Ankle', I have no idea why! It's sometimes abbreviated to just 'A'. You'll probably want to look for either a 10A or 12A

i got a pair of the skinny jeans from there! (also on the 12.99 deal ) and they really are flattering & generally amazing lol! I took my regular size that i take in most shops. It doesn't really matter what the label says - just try a few sizes on and pick what fits best.
Also - i take the short size (well, i like to call it petite :p: ) and they label this with A. i.e you might be a UK 8A or 10A. The gap assistant reliably told me this means 'ankle' and implies that you are short.
I've got some of the 'Flare' style jeans, and they are a bit baggy all over, so not really like flares but amazingly comfy! I have 3 pairs of the same, one which are about 3 years old and have holes all over them, and two which are quite dark, one of which i'm wearing now!

I'm a 10, sometimes pushing a 12, but these are a size 8, so go figure! Their sizes are odd.

im normally a size 10, 8 if im lucky but i went to gap about a week ago and bought a pair of boyfriend jeans in the sales (down from £45 to £12.99, was tres happy). i tried on a size 8 and it literally fell off me. i eventually bought a size 4 english size which shocked me as even they are baggy. gap are very strange when it comes to sizes, but it made me feel good for the day :p:

Yep! look out for your size followed by A! i think they do have them in most of the time - they still had a load in during that £12.99 sale!

when i went it about a week ago, it was on, but they really didn't have much left. may as well go and try though - you just might be lucky
Gap sizes are American, therefore size 8 = size 12. Add 4 onto the Gap size to get the UK size.

that's true ^ although they do label them with the UK sizes too.

Gap jeans are very good quality, nearly as good as Earl Jeans which is saying something. I have more than 40 pairs of jeans, 15 of which are from Gap. I just bought another pair today for £19.99 by Jack and Jones which I thought was amazing value considering the quality of Jack and Jones clothing.

dunno if it was just coincidence but i bought one pair of gap jeans which broke after about 3 month.and it was definitely not because they were too small or sth like that.
I love gap jeans, i tend to wear long and lean, cos i like the shape. i boughts ome new ones today though which were form the outlet called curvy.
I worked at Gap not so very long ago. General rules with the jeans are:

Try on your normal size and a size below

Especially the above if they are Stretch

Said Stretch jeans will "shrink" in the wash - not in leg length, but width-wise they will be smaller when you put them on, then expand as you wear them, so if they are Stretch buy them slightly tighter

The American sizes start at 0 and go up to 14

If there is only one number on the label with the barcode that is the American label

The English sizes run from 2 to 18

All the sizes from a Gap UK 2-6 are about a normal UK 6-8

To give you a clue, a US0/UK2 is about for 26" waist. If you can wear this or the size above, you can fit into GapKids clothes ages 12-13. Which can work out a lot cheaper, and often they have nicer stuff than adult Gap

I'd say a Gap UK size 8 is more a small 10

Sizes get more "normal" as you get bigger

Ankle (A) is for a 30" leg, Regular (R) about 32", Long (L) 34".

If you buy the Long and Lean style, the leg length is longer than on other styles.

Darkest jeans may stain your legs if you wear them out in the rain - turn inside out and wash before wearing (doesn't apply so much to lighter/distressed denim)

Last I worked at Gap (June) there was a total jeans shortage, no new ones had come in for several months in my store. I have no idea if this is a nation-wide or specific problem, or whether it has been sorted.

If you do try on a pair that you like but there isn't your size, you can ask an assistant to see if they can find one in the region (by using the till or ringing the other stores), or you can ring the Gap Merchandise Locator on 08000 111 427. They're brilliant.

The first pair of Gap jeans I bought over a year and a half ago now have lasted all that time. Denim quality does seem to have gone down since then, I did many returns for newer denim that had just broken randomly.

Boot Cut has the highest waistline (and a straight leg).

Long and Lean and Western Bootcut are both slightly lower, flared, and very flattering.

Ultra Low Rise (flared) and Skinny are hipsters.

Curvy Low Rise and Slim Boot Cut - I never understood these.

And Boy Jeans do exactly what they say on the tin.

I often directed girls who preferred baggier jeans to go to the mens - the smallest size they do is a 30x30 (I guess about a size 12).

So is this Gap jeans sale still on? Because my nearest Gap during vacations is a half-hour drive away and I'm considering going in tomorrow!
