What does celebrities; rhymes; poets; the rest which other countries have, some even better, with different names, have to do with it being the best country? There are other countries with better life benefits.

Obviously, it's all about taste, but still this is an illogical thread.

That's probably the first time someone has used "brb" and "Sir Francis Bacon" in the same sentence.

You're really not gonna mention Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and put Stoker over Orwell?

Whilst I like this thread, I kinda went a bit 'err' when you mentioned Jack the Ripper. I don't think we should be remembered fondly for that particular person.

Also, Dracula = Irish author.

No country is "the greatest" because every single one has massive flaws in one way or another.

Germany has contributed more to Science than England has despite Isaac Newton's invention of calculus, which was also discovered independently by Leibniz too. If you look on wikipedia there is an extensive list of German Scientists and their contributions exceed the UK by far, especially in fields like quantum physics.

The UK has contributed in different areas as do all countries. If it weren't for the Vikings then most of us wouldn't be here so don't get too patriotic here.

The terrible thing is that Britain is populated by the worst people in Europe and is currently ranked 27th place on the HDI

Subjective, I'm sure most of the other main European countries (France, Spain, Italy etc) could come up with similar lists.
