I'd say go to the doctor. Dentists, by their very name, deal with teeth, not facial bones. :p: That happened to me once for a few days but went away... not sure what it was.
I get this when I'm eating. It's sooooo annoying!

When i stay over at my boyfriend's place we have to share a single bed (it's a pain when the weather's hot) and EVERY time I stay over, I wake up with a lock jaw...where it feels like your jaw has been tied with an elastic band and u have to keep stretching it until it 'pops'... that's not what you mean is it? I really wanna know why I only get it when I stay there...
yea i got that too. according to my dentist, its harmless, although some guy once posted on here saying he dislocated his jaw once cuz of it

go dentist and ask for a night guard, its like a glorafied gumshield that you sleep wearing. it worked for me mine hardly clicks at all anymore.

That's what I don't get - think I get jaw cramp from lying asleep on his chest. It always seems to be on the same side...so maybe? And ha ha for the innuendo as I'm guessing that's what you were aiming for...

It's called TMJ I think, I had it last summer. Apparently I managed to cause it by grinding my teeth in my sleep, which is why they use those weird plastic night guard things to stop it (although I didn't need one personally).

As the post above says, it is to do with your TMJ (tempro-madibular joint).

Often the joint doesn't quite fit right and, like any other joint, it can click in and out of place. The other reason is if the cartilage surrounding the joint is worn down, it clicks.

This is not generally painful nor dangerous in any way. It is unfortunately something that most people have to live with.

Unless it is being caused by an actual dental problem like a misalinged jaw

(overbite or underbite generally) there is little your dentist or doctor can do.

If it is painful I would suggest you speak to your dentist/doctor.

Hope this helps

i have no idea, you wear it on your bottom teeth, go to sleep and then take it out when you get up. mine very rarely clicks since getting one

i had this problem too. i spoke to my ortho about it at the time and she said that it should pass when i have my brace off. generally speaking it has, though i have to avoid gum and stuff like that which just aggravates it.

she also said its very common and can just pass....you might find that the problem will just go away. if its not causing you pain, just annoyance, try to ignore it and dont grind your teeth etc. if it is go see someone:
your dentist will know what the problem is, but a doctor might be able to refer you to a specialist.
