As results day approaches I have started to wonder about how I am supposed to act towards people who are disappointed with their grades or maybe got less than mine. What is the best way to support these people without making them feel like crap?

LoL confident are we?

dont count your worms before the chickens excrete eggs babe.

I'd just leave them to it. I wouldn't rub it in their faces that you have better results than them, nor would I constantly say "well done! you did really well!", because that's equally bad. I'd just leave it for them to start moaning or if they ask you or something.

I'm not just talking about people I may have done better than, I am talking about people who were aiming high and didn't get what they wanted.

Ah, I see

Yeah, I'd just leave them to their moaning. If I felt like that I think I'd leave it to myself to feel better by realising that I wasn't realistc. I don't think it'd be for anyone else to tell me so.

Laugh at them. Serves them right for expecting grades which they can't achieve.

Reply 8

if you haven't got any solutions for them, i would just leave them with themselves.(could happen to me and i would get pretty angry when lots of people tell me that my results are still good, etc.)

I didn't know optimism was such a bad thing.

Say "too bad mate, but they're still good grades. Lt's all go and get pissed."

To be honest, I think your "dilemma" is a pretty lame one. I think the real "results day madness" concerns people not getting the grades they hoped to :/

You're worried about this?

Er, sorry for skipping round your 'problem' slightly, but aren't they the ones that should be worried? You can stop posting unsympathetic crap like this for a start if you want to help them. On results day, be modest. If you get the grades you want, great, just don't jump around and wave it in people's faces. I plan to go to results day and take the envelope outside before opening it, like I did last year.

ermmmmm I suppose think of how you would feel if you did worse than them - just be sympathetic if you know they did the work. I know for us in 'Norn Iron' we aren't the best to start on the whole....'awwwww but it doesnt matter' malarky....but seriously, just think of how you would like to be treated if you were in their shoes.

That is a very good point, if i do bad the one thing i dont want is people who dont know what im aiming for, telling me i did fine.

I got a B last year in physics for my AS and i was not too happy since i wanted an A in physics and my teacher comes up to me and says "you must be very happy with that, well done"

Make it a double shot of Brandy mixed with Coke.

Actually, I have that already.
