ID - No passport or driving license BUT I'M 18!

Heeeelp

I'm meant to be going to Birmingham on the 18th to celebrate my friend's birthday and we plan on going to various pubs and bars and clubs and all that jazz, but I haven't got any of the typical forms of ID. Well I've just sent off my passport application but there's no way my parents would let me take that out (as I previously lost it...eek).

So basically I can have photocopies of my passport and my birth certificate, and I have a college card which has a photo, but I look about 12 so there's no way a bouncer would just let me in for the fun of it. Do people have positive experiences with photocopies? Or anyone have any CUNNING ideas for how to get me in? It's so frustrating as I am actually 18!!!

when is it that your going out? you could always apply for a provisional drivers license.

if your lucky they may not ask you for i.d.....but its the summer holidays so i dont think youll be that lucky.
i dont think theyll take photocopies either but im not sure

Maybe get a connexions card? Or try talking to the bouncers about something which would mean you were at least 18 (try to avoid 'having to use DOS' though, as bouncers think that's a drug )

I feel for you. I don't have the standard forms of ID either, and I always get ID'd. And I'm 20 :frown:

I can't apply for a provisional as I've only just sent off my passport application, and I need my passport number to apply for the license. By the time the passport arrives, I'll only have like a day before the party! Booo

OOH really? On the website it says:

"NB birth certificates are not absolute proof of identity and so DVLA may ask you to provide other evidence to confirm your identity."

Did you only send off your birth certificate then?

Yeah I thought about that B_e_x but I don't actually know where it is we're going, we'll go to a few places, depending on how we feel.

You don't need your passport number... you can do it entirely without your passport, just got to get someone to countersign like with your passport application. I did this when I applied for mine last year because it was so close to a trip abroad and I didn't want to risk not getting passport back in time. Though I think you need your birth certificate which I believe is used in applying for a passport?

I think bouncers in Brum are generally very strict, and there's always lots of police on Broad Street - not much chance of them accepting fake ID or photocopies. I know people who get into some of the slightly more dodgy places around other parts of town on fake ID though.

somewhere on the form it has a section where you must find someone whos known you for like at least 4 or 3 years (who isnt realated) and you must get them to fill in a section on the form and they must sign the back of the photo so say thats what you really look like (i got my chemist man to do it, hes know me for years) and i sent of my birth certifcate with it. your alowed to do that cos i did that earlier this year and got my provisonal a week later.

OOh you may have just saved my life! Thanks, I'll have a go!

you could get a citizen card which can be used as proof of age. they will process it within 5-8 days for a charge otherwise it'd take up to 5 weeks.

not everywhere takes that which will be a problem.
you might as well just get a passport or a provisonal as everywhere takes that so you wont have any problems

B'ham not that strict on id.

Reply 16

you're 18 you should be responsible enough with your own passport.

a girl in front of me in the queue the other week showed the bouncer a passport photocopy and he didn't accept it-it could easily be fake.
