Hey Zivilelask,

Have you had any ideas about this so far?

Marxism is a political/historical worldview, whereas Ecology is the scientific study of organisms and their environment.

It would be difficult to directly compare differences and similarities between the two but you could draw an analogy...?

So far I just have an introduction and short description of both ideologies. Have to start writing about similarities and difference but I just can't find the direct info on that. However, that's what I'm thinking as well. Will definitely have to think smth up to make this come up as a 1800 word essay lol

I don't think Ecology is an ideology... is it? Unless there's something I'm missing here. :curious: Are we talking about Eco-Socialism...?

Not sure about Ecology, but Feminism is basically a mirror-image of Marxism, in which women are the proletariat, and men are the bourgeoisie.

Pretty sure that comparison's been made a million times, though.

Marxism seeks to overthrow capitalism which is believer to be responsible for the demise of our environment. Capitalism encourages things like globalisation which pollute the planet etc.

Marxism is revolutionary socialism, so you could argue that for someone who considers themselves a Marxist and an ecologist, a revolution is needed to save the environment because the situation is becoming so dire with global warming and such like.

Hope that helps a little.

Ecology is not an ideology, it is a branch of biology.

But you could say that ecologists tend to wear saddles and grow beards, as do Marxists.
