Anyone waiting to hear from Qub?

Hi! Just wondered if anyone else was still waiting to hear back about their PhD applications from the University of Ulster or Queens? Feeling a bit lonely waiting to hear on my own!

Hi, response time varies Uni to Uni and between departments, but I found QUB pretty quick. They came came back to me on the same day with one, and within a couple of weeks with the other.

If you can't see any update on your online application then I'd send drop the postgrad admin an email after a couple of weeks.

Good luck!!

Thanks for the reply! I eventually buckled and emailed them. They said invitations to interview would be sent out before the Easter break so I'm assuming this week. I'm on elective placement out of the country these couple of weeks :frown: I hope you were successful in your application?

Hey, I was lucky enough to find out I got the place a couple of hours after the interview. I really appreciated that.

Come to think of it, they let me know I had an interview a day after the application deadline. Though from my experience, that's really not typical - for one application I had to wait for over a month.

I hope it works out for you

Congratulations, that was good going! Was it a school funded PhD? Did you do your undergraduate degree at Queen's? I submitted my application before the deadline which has probably made me feel like I've been waiting for longer than I have!

Just finishing MSc in Sheffield and undergrad was from England as well. Fortunately, the PhD comes with a studentship at the usual rate.

Have you applied for any other PhDs? Would you be willing to go to other unis?

I am studying at Qub at the minute but I've studied at the Ulster too. I have two kids and my partner has a pretty specialised job in Belfast so we're pretty tied to home. Are you from N.I. or did you just particularly like their PhD topic/department?
Hey,

Did you happen to hear back from Queens?

I'm finishing off my masters in Sheffield, looking to make the move to Queens as it's an interesting area and the department is supposed to be great

Hi! I've been offered a fully funded PhD at Ulster and I'm going to take it - I love the topic and the supervisor! I have an interview for Qub next week but am thinking I'll just withdraw rather than waste their time. Hope you enjoy Qub and out paths may well cross- N.Ireland is a small place!
I'm glad you got your first choice, that's always a great feeling.

Hope everything works out ... And yes, may see you around!
