Exactly, I'm questioning his motives.

Would he even be guaranteed a regular place in the Chelski squad seen as he is up against Lampard, Makelele, Robben, Duff, Cole and Tiago and no doubt a few others.

Well getting Michael Essien to sign would prevent their rivals getting a hold on him and that could prove very useful even if they don't use him in the first team. Good for Chelsea but not for the geez...

Doubt Crespo will be first choice striker, it'll be Drogba. Mourinho likes his big, lone striker, and he knws he can lob the ball up to Drogba and wait see what happens. Crespo is a different sort of player. Needs a striking partner, and thrives off clever through balls. Unfortunately for Chelsea, neither Lampard or Essien resemble Kaka in any shape or form. Chelsea have a balanced team, fair enough, but they don't have a great passer to unlock defenses.

Calm down mate, its only a first eleven, the rest will make up a very competent bench...

It was just a series of questions
Oh yes, and Drogba?

Partner him up with Gudjohnsen then.

In a 4-4-2? What would be your first team?

When he first moved to Chelsea
(Original post by Mourinho)
I would say if all the names you wrote in the last few days are correct we would have a 50-player squad and I hate to work with big squads.

I want a small squad - 21 players plus the goalkeepers and no more.
So why does he have a 32 man squad? How many of them are classed as goalkeepers? Then add one more for Essien (unless Tiago goes the other way). Maybe he said this before they told him about their policy of buying as a preventative measure?

----------------Cech------------------

Ferriera------Terry--------Gallas-------Del Horno

Wright-Phillips--Makelele---Lampard---Robben

--------Drogba------Crespo-----

It depends on the team playing against because 4-3-3 and playing long ball would be effective against Arsenal but not others etc.

It's a tough call between:

Del Horno and Bridge, Robben and Joe Cole, and Crespo and Gudjohnsen.

I'd put Gudjohnsen up with with either Drogba or Crespo. What if you get Essien (and it looks like you will )?

I don't think we will get Essien to be honest. I've not seen enough of him to judge. Suppose it could displace Joe Cole's more central midfield role.

I think Chelsea should play Gudjohnesen in the middle, like they did towards the end of last season and Crespo/Drogba up front.

Doubt it. There's an article on the bbc.com that i can't be arsed to find, that says he's not as good going forward as Lamps, not a holding mid like Maka, and unlikely to get a place on the wings with the amount of competition there. I can't understand why they want him. Squad rotation maybe? Mour has said that he wants two world class players for each position

Why do you want him when you have already good midfielders?

Joe Cole, Lampard, Makelele, etc.

That's good that is. Ahead of midfield.

Ask Jose, he wants him not me. Personally I'm after our next striker.

Gudjohnsen plays good balls and makes good runs, and will most likely score if he gets the ball in the box. Although he did miss a glorious chance against liverpool in the CL semi.

How many strikers have chelsea got? 3?
