How much did they buy Kezman for?
£8million but he was a proven striker in the dutch league, his goal scoring record was crazy not much of a risk considering clubs like liverpool have spent £10million on a player like diouf

so Baros to Villa

Nice !

Bout time we made a big signing and just love this quote...
"Villa are a quality club, and I don't consider this a backward step at all. My situation will be better there."

I stand corrected, it was actually £5million which seemed quite a steal at the time

26 million for Essien.
24 million for Drogba.

One can only laugh.
Drogba's a decent player. Not worth £24 but then SWP is not worth £21m either. Then again I can count the numerous players that Houllier bought and here's one you will love - El-Hadji Diouf.

Still reckon Essien's a poor decision... he's a box-to-box midfielder. He can't 'attack' as well as Lampard, can't defend as well as Makalele, and he has nothing more to offer. Chelsea would have done far better buying a play maker a la Alonso - no, don't get any ideas - than a £26m stop gap. They lack a player with vision.

i would rather fill that third midfield position with either joe cole, jarosik or tiago then essien, then again essiens style may change as a result of training

at least we didnt pay £32m + for him like Lyon wanted, but £26m is too much

I just don't see the point of the signing at all. A tabloid-friendly replacement for Gudjohnson, perhaps, to feed the lone striker would be peferable. Lampard hasn't the ability, and Essien's not the creative type of player. Then again, £26m is like piss down the drain for Abramovich...

This made me chuckle, btw. Almost as funny as Lampard promoting The Sun...

Hello all,

Just a quick update as I'm sure you've all been on tenterhooks awaiting our results. I can say that Leyton Orient DID win at Darlington, 1-0 in a 1st v 2nd and consolidated our position at the top of League 2 as statisically being the best team in England being the only team to take maximum points from the first 3 games so far.

6 hours up north and 6 hours back for me but totally worth it. Matt Lockwood scored a penalty:

and we held on to win. So for confirmation:

Coca-Cola Football League Two Table

P GD PTS
1 Leyton Orient 3 3 9
2 Barnet 3 3 7
3 Notts County 3 2 7
4 Cheltenham 3 1 5
5 Wycombe 3 1 5
6 Oxford Utd 3 1 5
7 Mansfield 3 2 4
8 Chester 2 1 4
9 Darlington 3 1 4
10 Grimsby 2 1 4
11 Rushden & D'monds 2 1 4
12 Wrexham 3 1 4
13 Rochdale 3 0 4
14 Carlisle 3 -1 4
15 Bury 3 0 3
16 Peterborough 3 -1 3
17 Lincoln City 3 -1 2
18 Northampton 3 -1 2
19 Stockport 3 -2 2
20 Boston Utd 3 -2 2
21 Macclesfield 2 -1 1
22 Bristol Rovers 3 -2 1
23 Shrewsbury 3 -3 1
24 Torquay 3 -4 1

Now you can go back to your Premiership chat...
