What I find ironic is the use of video evidence of incidents like this and not in others.

giving them the ability to use video evidence afterwards is runing the game. not just in this incident but in general. if u see something in real time and u anyalsis it on the spot u normally get the right reaction. if u see it over and over agen, the worse it looks. Im not saying essiens challenge was legal, no by any stretch of the imagination, but by picking the bones outta challenges like this incident, it looks worse and then the player gets a bad name.

if they r guna use it for such incidents as this, then y cant u appeal is a goal was offisde, or a ball crossed the line? U may aswell not have a referee, and then let the video reply decide the score an outcome after.

*the games finished......u wudnt no the score.....who had been booked....it wud b alot more exciting i guess"
I'd rather not use video evidence but I just can see any other way. The standard of refereing is soo poor. Incidents happening 5 metres away and the ref doing nothing. Assistants never give enough help to refs either. Collina did a quality job. Set his stall out early and commands respect. Players dont dream to making stupid mistakes because they know they will get what they deserve. But its soo different with other useless referees who seem blind or paid off.

Actually the standard of refereeing has gone up over time. I still remember that goal kick that never should have been ten years ago between Man Utd and Spurs...

but at the end of the day, the ref is incharge of tht said game. not 4 people sat round a video. whether hes stevie wonder or has the best eye sight eva, i do believe it down to the referees disgression? its guna differ from wat some see as a yellow and some see as a sending off. But hes incharge.

It does differ but you cant just let these incidents pass. They have huge impacts. Picking out the team I hate most, Chelsea , Carvalho fouled the keeper for the deciding goal in Barca 2nd leg last season. Foul and no-goal and we could easily see another outcome.

Same could be said about Barcelona players diving in the first leg. Quite a few of them went down easier than a porn star, which Spanish sides have a habit of doing.

for 22 man brawls....unherd racist abuse...use cameras and mics. but football is a 90 min game. Not 90 and 4 days to analysis wat shudda been.

Everyone feels hard done to when its there team, and some teams do tend to protest more than others about using video referring. Benitez is all for it.....wen was the last time u saw allan curbishly or any of the other, less flashy british managers calling for it. they just get on with it

Actually Curbishley has made comments calling for video refereeing as has Sam Allardyce. Oh and speaking of video evidence. Which team played against Newcastle where Jenas had a very debatable red card? I forget. Can someone tell me?

Obviously rash challenges should all be dealt with in the same way but a bad refereeing error in a mid-table clash doesnt compare to which decides a champions league spot or in it itself.

Similarly, whether a team gets a CL spot doesn't compare to a bad error meaning a team gets relegated either.
