Its a good thing he's going and made the statement now. Everyone can now focus on football rather than whom he's shagging. SO message to the news of the world: well done, you've done your job well. But let him be for at least another 6 months you ****ing halfwits!!!!

Well Psycho's ruled himself out, unfortunately. If Big Sam takes it up I may well have to claw out my eyes, or at least I will upon seeing them play under him:

"Neville takes the throw on... Beckham lumps it 60 yards up to Cole... Joe Cole dives over... Beckham takes the free kick..."

Good thing in the long run... not a fan of Sven in the slightest... No tactics jus big names.

SHort term... Maybe Sven will be really siked up to win it now! Then again it might just completly kill team moral!

I think Big Sam would be great for england's chances of winning major tournaments, but then again i'd love to see england playing really sexy football... so... me!

Unfortunately, Becks isn't that old. Wouldn't be surprised to see him knock it about for a few years to come yet.

We need the old 'LFC type' Bootroom some1 to really get the players worked up. Sven just doesnt understand motivation and picks players on rep, hed go far at madrid though

Wouldnt be suprised to see him knock 'international' on the head after the world cup. He is 30 after all, although i can only see him retirting if we win something major. He does love the attention an all.

I remember hearing that he's gonna retire from football at the age of 32

The press are such pr1cks. Sven has far more ability and experience than any domestic manager coupled with a great record. Will be interesting to see what happens IF we win the WC.

And I heard Fergie was gonna retire in 2002. He's captain, and there's financial and commercial impetus both for him and the team.

What i dont understand is, why are the press hell bent on destroying team moral so close to major tournaments? There was the ulkrika case, then followed by faria. They rave on about how they want us to win the world cup but it seems to me they are hell bent on denting our chances everytime we have a good chance. Our best chance is to get behind the team, and its manager. Svens got an excellent record but he isnt long term. Save it for afterwards

British tradition I'm afraid. We like making things more difficult for ourselves - selling weapons to Iraq and then comes the Gulf War, same goes with the Celts selling weapons to the Romans.

Boycotting the press at the WC wouldnt be a bad idea imo
